I see a concentration camp. The sun is the illusion of safety. The white light of the moon and artificial lamp are the knowledge of the reality, harsh and cruel as it is. The skeletons--modern twists on the classic grim reaper--are guardians because in the world of the concentration camp, death becomes the deliverer.
Seems to be a lot of interesting light sources here. The people are moving towards the warm living glow of the sun which is duplicated by the light above the door they are also heading towards. The skeletons are bathed in a cold, stark but also very bright and... empowering? majestic?... There is a power in it and it is definitely not coming from the sun or the moon, which is bathed in its light as well, so what is that mysteriously powerful light?
I'm not good with guns. Looks like they are using RPK's?? (elements of AK's) which I guess would mean they aren't all Nazi's or German as I first thought... Aaand I suppose the crazy scythe thing wasn't standard issue for anybody!
Otherwise they look like interpretations of the 3 judges of Hades/underworld.
Interesting piece... not entirely sure what all these elements add up to though. Maybe if I was better at memorizing my war history!
